Why I Created Nurture Baby Balm for My Family (and Yours)

When I set out to create the Nurture Baby Balm, I wanted to craft something different from my other three blends, which have more of a creamy, whipped consistency. And although my Fragrance Free blend is also an all-rounder and caters beautifully to those with sensitive skin, this balm is more ingredient-focused on newborns and really delicate skin. It was designed to be an intensive, concentrated balm, firmer in texture, not whipped like the others.
Despite the name “Baby Balm,” this product is designed for everyone, from the teeniest newborns to the elderly, and for anyone in between who needs extra skin support. The name simply reflects the gentleness of the ingredients, chosen carefully so that even the most sensitive skin types can benefit.
The Ingredients That Make It Special
When I created this balm, I wanted each ingredient to have a purpose and work in harmony.
I started with locally sourced, grass-fed, halal-certified beef tallow, rendered and finished from suet, which is the most nutrient-dense part of the animal. Tallow has always been close to my heart because it’s so similar to our skin’s natural oils. It’s packed with vitamins A, D, E, and K, plus essential fatty acids, which makes it deeply nourishing, protective, and supportive of the skin’s barrier.
Then I added golden jojoba oil, cold-pressed and organic. Jojoba is a beautiful oil because it’s lightweight and non-greasy, yet delivers incredible moisture. It’s one of those oils that balances the skin — whether you’re dry or oily, it just works.
For that soft, buttery feel, I used unrefined mango and shea butter. Both are rich, creamy, and full of antioxidants. They soften rough patches, help restore elasticity, and leave the skin feeling cushioned and protected.
One ingredient I couldn’t leave out is cold pressed organic calendula-infused sweet almond oil. Calendula has long been known for its soothing qualities, and combined with almond oil it creates a nourishing base that’s perfect for delicate or easily irritated skin.
I also included organic cold pressed camellia oil, which feels like a little luxury in itself. It’s rich in oleic acid (omega-9), antioxidants, and plant collagen, helping the skin stay supple, smooth, and soft without any heaviness.
To further support the skin, I added natural vitamin E oil. This well-loved ingredient is an antioxidant that helps protect and also naturally extends the balm’s shelf life.
And finally, one of the most important additions: colloidal oatmeal powder. Used for centuries, it’s known for calming and comforting skin, reducing dryness, and easing irritation. Paired with tallow, it becomes a real powerhouse — together they nourish, protect, and provide lasting comfort.
How to Use It
The Nurture Baby Balm can be used almost anywhere you need extra care:
Cradle cap
Nappy rash
Burns or scrapes
Dry patches
Eczema or psoriasis flare-ups (soothes symptoms)
Everyday face and body hydration
Pregnancy bellies to keep the skin supple
Dry heels, hands, and elbows
And really, anywhere your skin needs comfort and protection
A little goes a long way, just warm it between your fingers and smooth it onto the skin.
My Story Behind the Balm
Even though the Fragrance Free worked beautifully for my son, I wanted to create something even more intensive. His dermatitis flare-ups around his elbows and wrists made me think about what more I could add to really comfort the skin. That’s where colloidal oatmeal powder came in paired with tallow, it turned into the powerhouse combination I was looking for.
I tested the balm on him before I ever released it, and the results spoke for themselves. His skin calmed, felt protected, and stayed nourished. That gave me the confidence to share it more widely.
I also knew I wanted this balm to be safe for newborns and sensitive skin, so I left out essential oils entirely. And because I know some people can be sensitive to the natural “beefy” scent of tallow, I worked on the ratio, using half tallow and half oils and butters. The result is a balm with a very minimal odor, where what you notice is the soft, natural scent of the butters and oils instead.
So yes, this balm is practical and effective, but it’s also deeply personal. It was born out of love, tested on the skin that matters most to me, and made with the highest quality, locally sourced ingredients I could find.
